General Motors India launched its new product SAIL with a shocking price of 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), for the baser petrol variant in the market to aggressively fight in the current entry level sedan segment. The petrol variants are priced from Rs 4.99 - 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the diesel variants are on offer from Rs 6.29 - 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Sail is powered by a 79bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel motor which gives a fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl & 22.1kmpl for the petrol & diesel variants respectively. Sail is available with four variants for petrol and four variants for diesel, namely Base, LS, LS ABS, and LT ABS respectively. The base model comes with power steering, front power windows, electric folding wing mirrors, tilt-steering and engine immobilizer. ABS and EBD come standard on all models.
Sail looks similar to the Sail UVA hatch launched in India a few months backs, with an additional boot for only Rs.60000. The Sail is having a dynamic sculpture design with bold frond-end styling with the Chevrolet split grille with the bowtie emblem adds premium appeal to the aggression of taunt and sculpted form. In the interiors, we can see Chevrolet Corvette-Inspired dual cockpit design. Unlike some other competitors, addition of a 370litre boot shows a striking design and really suits the vehicle. The vehicle comes with seven colour options to choose switchblade silver, velvet red, caviar black, linen beige, misty lake blue, summit white & sand drift grey.
