Chevrolet has recently launched its MPV Enjoy in the Indian market. MPV segment is one of the fast growing segment in the Indian market scenario starting with Chevrolet Enjoy to almost double priced Toyota Innova. Currently we are making a comparison on Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Chevrolet Enjoy is the new player in this category. Enjoy LTZ comes with SMARTECH diesel engine which is basically a Fiat sourced Turbo-charged 1.3Litre (1248cc) retuned to produce a maximum power of 77.5PS @ 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 188Nm @ 1750rpm with a smart fuel efficiency of 18.2 Kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with the confidence of being a Maruti Suzuki with a diesel engine which is the same Fiat sourced DDiS 1.3Litre (1248cc) with a maximum power output of 90PS @ 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 200Nm @ 1750rpm. Fuel efficiency of Ertiga is really competitive with a best in class mileage of 20.77 Kmpl.
Mahindra Xylo has an mHAWK engines which is a 2.2Litre (2179cc) with a maximum power of 120PS @ 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 280Nm @ 2400-2800rpm with a fuel efficiency of 14.02 Kmpl.
All the three vehicles come with a 5 Speed manual transmission.
BRAKES, STEERING, SUSPENSION & TYRES
Chevrolet Enjoy has McPherson Struts at front and Multi Link Coil Spring at rear with passive twin-tube gas filled shock absorbers. Ertiga has McPherson Strut at the front and Torsion beam at the rear. Xylo comes with double wishbone type independent front suspension and multi link coil spring at rear.
Steering is of tilt and adjustable type, front brakes are disc and rear brakes are drum type for all these models. Enjoy has 175/70 R14 tubeless tyres, Ertiga has 185/65 R15 and Xylo has 215/75 R15 tyres.
SAFETY & SECURITY
Chevrolet Enjoy has ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, child protection rear door locks, speed sensing auto locks. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with ABS with brake assist and EBD, driver and passenger airbag, security alarm system with door and hood sensing and immobilizer. Mahindra Xylo has dual airbags, ABS with EBD, intelligent reverse parking assist, digital drive assist system and engine immobilizer.
EXTERIOR & INTERIOR
Chevrolet Enjoy comes with a signature Chevrolet Gold Bowtie in the chrome surround three dimensional grille and a chrome surround meshed air dam between attractive leaf style fog lamps. The rear comes with a sporty rear spoiler with high mount stop lamp. Inside the Enjoy is richly appointed luxurious dual tone interiors of black and beige. Wood finish on AC vents, door armrests and gear knob is present in the Enjoy LTZ. Enjoy has a superb theatre style seating with front row bucket seats, second row captain seats and double folding third row seats which ensures all-round view. It also has reverse parking sensors which provides an audio warning for objects not visible while reversing. Enjoy is fitted with 14” alloy wheels.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has an aerodynamic styling which promotes fuel efficiency and wind noise reduction. In the front Ertiga has a stylish cluster headlamps and inbuilt fog lamps. The side mirror is smart enough with integrated indicators. Ertiga comes with 15” alloy wheels. Inside the Ertiga is a bit sporty with a stylish dashboard with contrasting brown and beige and many features loaded in it like in-built music system, steering with audio control. Doors are fitted with chrome door handles, front and rear door pockets which are big enough to hold standard bottle sizes. The second row seatback fold down easily and the seat slides forward to provide easy walk in to the third row. Second row seats get a roof mounted AC which can be controlled.
Mahindra Xylo comes with signature Mahindra front grille with chrome inserts between sleek headlamps. Blackout tapes on the windows, sporty rear spoiler with brake lights, integrated footstep and pronounced wheel arches adds style quotient of the Xylo. Interior of the Xylo is an art with glossy wood and leather which includes genuine Italian leather seats and leather wrapped gear knob. Driver and co-driver get foldable armrests. 2 Din audio system, voice command technology, blue drive technology, cruise control and audio control on steering wheels are equipped in new Xylo H9.
Chevrolet Enjoy LTZ comes with lot of practicality and space, but style wise it lags behind the competitors. It is an MPV which can be a key player in the taxi market and is available for INR 799900 (Ex-showroom New Delhi).
While the Mahindra Xylo H9 pampers with lot of equipments and the third row seats are really spacious. The downside of Xylo is the limited boot space and lacks refinement, fit and finish. Xylo comes at INR 1081110 (Ex-showroom New Delhi) which is priced above the competitors.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is having the backup of being a Maruti Suzuki with nationwide support. It has better aerodynamic styling, better performance, better mileage and priced competitively at INR 870970 (Ex-showroom New Delhi), while there are also some downsides like the non-splitable rear seats. All these things put together Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is really value for money.
