Fiat-Chrysler to launch 9 new models in India

Fiat Chrysler, the Italian-American automotive group is planning to launch 9 new models in India in the next three years. The new launches include 4 models from Fiat, 4 from Chrysler and 1 from Abarth. Abarth is the performance car division of Fiat.

The company has already announced the launch of Jeep brand from Chrysler which will make way to India by end of 2013. Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee would be the first cars to hit the Indian roads. 
Fiat Chrysler India Operations president and managing director Nagesh Basavanhalli said, “As part of the expansion plan, we plan to launch nine models, a combination of refreshed and new models, in the next three years.” Fiat has been trying to increase its market share in the Indian market with the company ending its partnership with Tata Motors and setting up their own dealership networks since then. 
“We have less than one per cent currently (in India), which we plan to double each year for the next three years,” Basavanahalli said.
