New Volkswagen Polo, a combination of style and performance: Review

 Volkswagen India’s line up starts with the young Polo. Combination of sporty and distinctive design, a performer engine that delivers on fuel efficiency and power alike and a host of superior features makes the Polo one of the finest cars in the segment. The new Polo offers an optimal blend of design, comfort and functionality.

The exterior view of the Polo is the combination of elegant and sporty design. Exclusively designed 15” alloy wheels add to the desired look and precise handling. The new Polo comes with stylish indicator embedded headlights blend in with the chrome trimmed radiator grille insert.

Though the front fog lights integrated into the sporty front bumpers do not provide better visibility in poor weather conditions, it adds a striking look to the Polo. Just above the bumpers is the chrome trimmed lines with the Volkswagen logo at the center. Curved body coloured door handles and integrated rear spoiler with brake lights add to the beauty of the car. On the rear, the trunk opener in the Polo is actually the shiny Volkswagen logo right in middle..

The interior of the polo is also mind blowing which makes it stand out from the rest of the world. A host of features inside the polo redefines the comfort level in the car. Armed with state of the art technology that puts you at ease, plush seats and great acoustics, the Polo reaffirms absolute comfort. The standard multi function display supplies information on average fuel consumption, range, journey distance, odometer, actual time and outside temperature.

The new Polo also has a Bluetooth portable device that has an in-built speaker which allows connecting two phones simultaneously and even use voice recognition to receive and make calls. Polo comes with a host of comfortable features like height adjustable seats, folding backrests, multifunction steering wheel and anRCD 310 music system etc. The adaptable electronic power steering wheel has the reach and rake adjustment as standard for the convenience of the driver. The Polo is equipped with storage spaces all around.

Safety is one of the highlights of the new Polo helping make every journey as safe as possible. Safety features include airbags for the driver and the front passenger along with a high strength steel frame and Anti-locking Braking System. The new Polo is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options each having three variants namely Trendline which is the base version, Comfortline the middle version and the Highline top version.

The petrol model is a 1.2L (1198cc) 3-cyilnder inline engine with max power of 77PS @ 5400rpm and max torque of 110Nm @ 3750rpm combined with a 5-speed manual transmission delivering a fuel efficiency of 16.47 kmpl (ARAI certified). While the diesel model is a 1.2L (1199cc) 3-cyilnder inline engine with max power of 75PS @ 4200rpm and max torque of 180Nm @ 2000rpm combined with a 5- speed manual transmission delivering a fuel efficiency of 22.07 kmpl(ARAI certified).

Both the models come with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear and have a minimum turning radius of 4.97mm. Polo has McPherson strut with stabilser bar for front suspension and semi independent trailing arm at the rear. The new Polo has a fuel tank capacity of 45L and is offered in six colour options of candy white, flash red, glacier blue, reflex silver, pepper grey and deep black.
