Review: Suzuki Hayabusa, the fastest production bike!

Everyone would have seen Dhoom film in which John Abraham rides a superbike. When we say Hayabusa this image comes to mind for us Indians. Hayabusa in Japanese means “Peregrine Falcon”, a bird that serves as a metaphor for speed.

Hayabusa is the nickname for GSX1300R, a sports bike manufactured by Suzuki since 1999. It became the fastest production motorcycle with a top speed of 312Kmph. Many changes have happened to Hayabusa from time to time and at present we give you detailed review of Hayabusa 1300 which I available in our country.

The power plant is a 1.3 Litre (1340cc), 4-Cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine with compression ratio of 12.5:1. It has an electronic ignition and the engine is mated to a 6-Speed constant mesh gearbox. The engine produces a maximum power of 197PS @ 9800rpm and maximum torque of 155Nm @ 7200rpm. The bike is capable of going from 0-100 Kmph in less than 3 seconds.

Hayabusa has twin disc brakes at the front and single disc brake at the rear. It also has alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. At the front it has an inverted telescopic, coil spring oil damped suspension and at the rear linky type, coil spring oil damped suspension.

Hayabusa has an overall length of 2190mm, overall width of 735mm, overall height of 1165mm along with a wheelbase of 1480mm and 120mm ground clearance. All these dimensions come together comes to a curb weight of 260Kg.

Suzuki has introduced the second generation of Hayabusa in India, which is an excellent bike for its performance, handling, quality and comfort.

The bike comes with an excellent aerodynamics which makes it aesthetically stunning. The bikes front fearing housed its headlight and clear lens indicators with a wide and a long visor further enhancing its look along with an integrated rear view mirror. Two big air-inlets on its side fearing looks very cool with Japanese deals.

The fuel tank is neatly designed with a premium touch. It has partly black coloured fatty silencers with diamond like coating. The bikes instrument console houses five circular dials for analogue tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge along with LED indicators. It has both analogue and digital speedometers along with orange coloured LCD display, tripmeter and odometer.

Hayabusa has a good riding posture with clear visibility and optimum comfort. Low ground clearance of 120mm gives an extra stability at high speed. The bike is available in two colours of pearl glacier white colour and glass sparkle black colour.
Suzuki aims Hayabusa at the speed enthusiasts and is priced at INR 15 Lakhs (EX-showroom New Delhi).
