Mercedes Benz India has launched its must awaited luxury hatchback A-Class in the country few days back and we bring you the detailed review. A-Class is available in both petrol and diesel engine options namely A 180 Sport and A 180 CDI Style. A-Class will be the cheapest Mercedes Benz available in the Indian market.
A 180 Sport is fitted with a 1.6Litre (1596cc) four cylinder inline petrol engine with rated power output of 90Kw @ 5000rpm and a rated torque of 200Nm @ 1250-4000rpm with an acceleration of 0-100kmph in 9.2 seconds, top speed of 202kmph and ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 15.5kmpl.
While the A180 CDI Style has a 2.2Litre (2143cc) four cylinder inline diesel engine with rated power output of 80Kw @ 3200-4400rpm and a rated torque of 250Nm @ 1400-2800rpm with an acceleration of 0-100kmph in 10.6 seconds, top speed of 190kmph and ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 20.07kmpl. Both the engines are mated with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission having seven forward gears and one reverse gear.
Mercedes Benz A-Class has 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel with 12 function buttons, armrest with storage compartment, bi-xenon headlamps with day time running lamps and washers, 5-twin spoke smoked alloy wheels painted in himalaya grey with a high finish and 225/45 R 17 tyres, panoramic sliding sunroof, automatic headlamp activation, 14.7cm TFT colour display 4-way lumbar support for driver, driver side electric seat adjustment with memory function and front passenger etc.
A-Class is equipped with many safety and security features like attention assist, hill start assist, brake assist system, 7 airbags, ABS, ESP, acceleration skid control, adaptive brake lights, electric parking brake, a reverse camera and tyre pressure loss warning system.
Mercedes Benz has a new radiator grille with 302 progressive diamond like pins creating an unmistakable highlight on the road which adds a dynamic character to the A-Class. A-Class is 1433mm in height, 1780mm in width and 4292mm in length. It is available in three paint options of Jupiter red and cirrus white non-metallic paints and polar silver metallic paint.
A-Class is the second model of the Mercedes line up with new front wheel drive architecture. It is primarily aimed at owner drivers and not the chauffer driven. It is available with Star Ease and Star Care for easy ownership experience. Mercedes A-Class A 180 Sport Petrol is available at INR 22.73 Lakhs and A-Class CDI Style at INR 21.93 Lakhs (All prices are ex-showroom Mumbai).
