Skoda India unveiled the new Octavia sedan which is expected to launch by end of this year. The new Octavia packs a punch with the Czech carmaker giving the sedan its new global design language.
The new Octavia is more lighter and have grown in size by 90 mm in length and 45 mm in width than the Laura. On the design front, the sedan gets more sportier with straight lines and sharp edges.
The carmaker has also given an upmarket finish to the cabin of the car by increasing the quality of materials. The D-segment sedan will feature an array of new safety features such as lane assistance, automatic braking system, fatigue detection system apart from nine airbags.
The engine options are 1.8-litre TSI, 2-litre TDI along with an additional smaller 1.4-litre TSI engine. Skoda also confirmed that the production of new Octavia is underway while the Laura will be phased out by the time of new Octavia's launch.
The car also features adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and an intelligent light assistant that switches automatically between low and high beams which is indeed very helpful in Indian conditions. With the new Octavia set to give a tough time to its competitors, the price of the sedan is expected to start from Rs 13 lakh.
The new Octavia is already on sale in many other international markets and will be rivaling the likes of D-segment sedans Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta in India.
