You will see more Royal Enfield bikes on road by 2014

Royal Enfield bikes are being sold like never before and the two-wheeler arm of Eicher Group is all plan to continue the momentum in the niche market sector. Royal Enfield India is setting up a 150 crore manufacturing facility near Chennai looking to increase production capacity beyond 1.5 lakh by 2014. The new facility is expected to become operational in a couple of months. 

Eicher Motors Ltd Managing Director & CEO Siddhartha Lal was quoted as saying, "With our new plant at Oragadam (near Chennai) coming on stream within the next few months, in 2013 we will have a total combined capacity of 1,50,000 units. We are already working to increase it beyond that by 2014." On additional capacity and the company’s investment, Siddhartha said, "We have not decided on any particular number but all the fresh capacity will be by and large at the new plant." 
Royal Enfield models currently have a waiting period of 6-8 months which will be reduced with the functioning of the new manufacturing facility. The company has been growing in a fast pace at over 50 per cent in the last two years. "we are investing substantially across all its functions to continue a strong growth momentum in the long term," the CEO said. 
Royal Enfield currently sells Standard, Electra, Classic and Thunderbird models in India. The company also exports many of the Royal Enfield models to many countries across the world.
