Everything is for sale in the modern world. Now reports from China shows that China’s super rich are spending thousands of dollars for human fresh milk, some even opt for wet nursed.
The new trend which is on a rise in China witnesses adults buying breast and drinking either straight from wet nurse or after it was extracted. The news provoked Chinese people with thousands of people expressed their anger in Sina Welbo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
According to Southern Metropolis Daily, breast milk is offered for newborns, sick people or anyone who will pay upto 16,000 yuan (£2,600) a month by the domestic agency. Customers see breast milk as the latest super food which carries antibodies, living cells, enzymes, hormones and fatty acid.
“Adult (clients) can drink it directly through breastfeeding, or they can always drink it from a breast pump if they feel embarrassed,” Lin Jun, owner of company Xinxinyu that offers the service, was quoted as saying by AFP.
However, critics say that even breast milk turning into a commodity is a bad trend. Chinese commentator Cao Baoyin wrote on his blog, “This adds to China's problem of treating women as consumer goods and the moral degradation of China's rich,” according to AFP.
It was in 2010, the first website which offers breast milk for sale was launched.
