Pani Puri (Golgappa) recipe

Pani Puri also known as Golgappa or puchka is a mouth watering chat that people of any age group love to have anytime. Pani Puri’s are generally considered to be a popular low calorie snack and the nutritional information per typical un-stuffed suji golgappa is said to be approximately 12g.


Pani Puri is very easy to prepare, provided you have the below mentioned ingredients.



Puris (Note: This can also be prepared at home with Rava/Suji, maida, Baking soda, salt)
Boiled Green Peas/Channa
Corriander leaves/mint leaves
Powders: Chat masala, Pani Puri masala, Jal jeera powder, Meeti powder, Dhaniya Powder




For Pani
Soak little tamarind (depends on the soar taste you want) in water, leave it for sometime and then squeeze and collect the liquid. Filter the same in a clean bowl. Dilute it with water if required and add little Chat and Pani Puri masala.


For Meeta (sweet)
Soak few pieces of Jaggery (depends on the sweet you want) in water, leave it for sometime, mix to dissolve and filter in a clean bowl. This should be thick, so dissolve with as little water as you can.
Though many don’t like pani puri sweet, it is good to add little meeta to make it taste better.


Boil potatoes. Peal the skin and mash the potato in a clean bowl. Do not mash completely as it is good to have few big pieces. Add finely chopped onion. To this add salt and 2 pinches of pepper all masalas/powders: Chat masala, Pani Puri masala, Jal jeera powder, Meeti powder, Dhaniya Powder (to be added in the quantity depending on the amount of potatoes), squeeze lemon and mix properly.


Now make a hole in the middle of puris and add the stuffings. You can also add the boiled green peas/channa to it. Toppings can be done with finely chopped Corriander/mint leaves. Squeaze lemon if required. Serve it with Pani and Meeta.
