Sarabjit Singh may be moved abroad for better treatment: Pak forms panel to decide

Lahore, April 29: Pakistan may send Indian prisoner Sarabjit abroad for better treatment. Pakistan on Monday formed a panel of experts to decide on his treatment.

 

Meanwhile, Sarabjit’s family who were in Pakistan asked the Indian government to bring him back to the country for better treatment. Pakistan had given allowed his family members to visit him and they met him at hospital on Sunday.

 

"His stomach was bloated. His face was swollen up. He was beaten up so badly.”  Sarabjit sister Dalbir Kaur said. On Sunday evening, Pakistan government granted permission to the Indian consulate officials to meet Sarabjith. In a statement, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Pakistan government has provided second consular access to Indian diplomats stationed in Lahore. The family members will be able to visit Sarabjit Singh whenever they want."

 

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar shinde said that the Ministry of home affairs and external affairs were in constant touch with Pakistan officials over Sarabjit’s health conditions. Sarabjith Singh who was brutally assaulted in Pak jail continues to be in deep coma.

 

Sarabjith was given death sentence for his alleged involvement in a series of bomb attacks in Pakistan. His mercy petitions were also rejected.
