Wikileaks, the anti secrecy organization also confirmed the news through twitter. "Edward Snowden has successfully acquired refugee status in Russia," it said.
Meanwhile, Snowden has agreed to the conditions put forward by Russian authorities that he won't leak more US secrets. Snowden's lawyer Kucherena said that he has accepted the condition.
Snowden had arrived in Moscow from Hong Kong on June 23. He was offered asylum by three Latin American countries, however he feared that US will arrest him before reaching the destination.
