Ranchi Rhinos Clinch Inaugural HIL Trophy

In the inaugural edition of Hockey India league (HIL), Ranchi Rhinos beat Delhi waveriders in the final clinching the title. Simon Child scores the first goal for waveriders  in 25th minute and the Rhinos came back to the game through Austin Smith in 55th minute and later Manpreet Singh scored the wining goal for Rhinos. The Rhinos showed a great fighting sprit and never gave up the attitude through out the game.

Both the teams displayed fast and free flowing hockey, however Rhinos dominated the first quarter and The Waveriders, dominated  in the second quarter and scored the first goal of the game in the 25th minute through Simon Child.
Earlier in the tournament, Uttar Pradesh Wizards defeated Jaypee Punjab Warriors in a play off match and settled with third spot. Uttar Pradesh Wizards captain V R Raghunath scored four goals which include a hat-trick helping them to get a win over Jaypee Punjab Warriors by 4-3.
Delhi captain Sardar Singh was selected as the player of the tournament while Mandeep Singh of Ranchi Rhinos was adjudged the most promising player of the tournament.
Apart from the coveted trophy, Ranchi Rhinos bagged a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 crore, while the runners-up received Rs. 1.25 crore. The second runners-up were cash-prized by Rs. 75 lakhs.
