Saina nears All England Open Badminton title

Birmingham, March 9: World No 3 shuttler Saina Nehwal advanced to women’s singles semi finals of All England Open Badminton Championships at the National Indoor Arena here on Friday. She won a thrilling victory against China’s Shixian Wang – the former World No. 1. 

 
Saina beat current sixth seed Shixian Wang in a marathon match which lasted for one hour and 14 minutes. She won the three game match by 23-21, 19-21, 21-16. 
 
However, India’s top seed male shuttler Parupalli Kashyap lost to world number 2 shultter Long Chen of China in straight games and found his way out of the tournament. Long Chen won the match by 21-16, 21-10 in 43 minutes.
