BlackBerry launches new smartphone at INR 15,990

BlackBerry India launched BlackBerry 9720 smartphone in India with a price tag of INR 15,990. The BlackBerry 9720 smartphone includes spacious BlackBerry keyboard (35-key, backlit, narrow QWERTY keyboard) for better typing and the trackpad for easy navigation. 

 

The BlackBerry 9720 has a 2.8 inch touchscreen display while the BlackBerry 7.1 operating system, which features several upgrades, powers the device. The BlackBerry 9720 is available in a variety of vibrant colors and comes with several preinstalled social apps. 

 

The BlackBerry 9720 has (114x66.33x12.07) mm dimensions and weighs around 20 grams. The display is a 2.8-inch touchscreen with 480×360 pixel resolution and the phone sports a 806MHz Tavor MG1 processor paired with 512MB of RAM. The device also features a 5-megapixel EDOF (Extended Depth of Field) primary camera with Image stabilization and 4X digital zoom at the rear of the phone. 

 

The BlackBerry 9720 has an inbuilt storage of  512MB and the memory can be expanded through a microSD card. The 1,450mAh battery  gives 7 hours of talk time and 18 days of standby time.

"This new smartphone provides an ideal choice for urban youth and customers who are looking to upgrade from a feature phone or existing BlackBerry Curve smartphone to an affordable, easy-to-use smartphone with rich messaging and social networking connectivity," he added. 

 

The BlackBerry 9720 is expected to be available in India from a September 14.
