Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Review

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the company’s flagship smartphone for this year 2020. The technology is top notch and all combined in this phone. The review is based on few parameters.

Design: Familiar Territory

  • Curved glass edges
  • Aluminum rails
  • Punch hole display
  • 162.4 x 76.1 x 9.5mm
  • 221.8g

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a big smartphone in all dimensions. The phone is quite heavy and can be difficult to be carried if you don’t have big pockets. Xiaomi has a glass sandwich design with aluminium rails and glass curved on both sides. On the front side there is a full display and in the top left is punch hole and a speaker grille above the glass. The left side is blank and the right side has volume and power button. On the top are two microphones and on the bottom we have USB-C port, microphone and a main speaker and a dual SIM tray. A large camera resides on top left corner of the rear panel. The device is smooth in the hands for its rounded rear glass and side rails. The buttons are clicky, the display fingerprint scanner is quick and accurate.

One of the features is the quad-camera array. The module is large that when you hold the phone it can catch the fingers too. The phone is not IP certified so it lags behind Apple and Samsung phones and offers protection from water and dirt. Xiaomi includes USB-C to 3.5 mm dongle in the box. The Mi  10 Ultra also features plenty of Bluetooth audio codecs.

Display

  • 6.67-inch OLED
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 2,340 x 1,080 FHD+ resolution
  • 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • HDR10+

Xiaomi has gone for full HD + 120Hz OLED panel. The other competitors offer higher resolution screens  at this price but not the same charging features. One can change screen to 60Hz in the settings if we like.

The screen is smooth and fast as well as vibrant with deep contrast. Brightness is quite good, that even in sunlight the Mi 10Ultra was quite viewable. The curved glass edges looks great in promotional videos but creates complications and glare.

Performance and Battery

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 865
  • Adreno 650 GPU
  • 8/12/16GB RAM
  • 128/256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • MIUI 12 on Android 10
  • 4,500mAh battery
  • 120W wired charging
  • 50W wireless charging
  • 10W reverse wireless charging

Performance

The phone is very fast. Inspite of its utmost usage by playing games, photo taking or multi-tasking there weren’t any stutters.

Battery

The phone has average battery size. It is 4500mAh cell in a device with five cameras, a chipset and a high refresh rate display. Xiaomi has the best software killing the application and optimizing power to deliver good battery life. In its charging capabilities the phone shines well. For starters the device charged from 0-100% in 20 minutes. This is fastest charging phone with charging two cells in parallel. The 4500mAh battery is split into two. To charge 4500mAh battery in just 40 minutes is simply amazing in wired form.
